Voces del ValleVoices of the ValleyWorking together to build a stronger community. General informationThe SLV Immigrant Resource Center recently wrote and received a grant from The Colorado Trust for Immigrant Integration in the San Luis Valley. With the help of many community members, collaborators and supporters, this grant provided for a planning stage and now a four-year implementation of immigrant integration programs. This project is in progress in several communities in Colorado and each community has a unique integration plan. What is Immigrant Integration?Immigrant Integration is a process through which a greater sense of unity is achieved for all members of the immigrant and receiving communities of the San Luis Valley. What’s being done and how can I get involved?Currently there are 6 work groups carrying out a plan of action. These activities reflect a year of thought and dialogue from over 100 Valley residents. The work group focus areas are: Civic Engagement, Education, Legal/Law Enforcement, Healthcare, Work Force and Housing. We would love to have your help in one of these focus areas to better carry out our goal of building a stronger community. Work Group MeetingsOur work groups meet about every 6 weeks for an hour to discuss progress that has been made, activities that need to be accomplished, collaboration ideas and upcoming events. Small tasks designed to help in the accomplishment of larger goals are given to everyone to get done by the next meeting. Also there are occasional collaborative meetings of all work groups. These meetings are a summary of what each group is doing to further integration. The collaborative meetings are always open to the public. Translation and Interpretation ServicesWe offer document translation and interpretation services at a very reasonable rate. Please call to inquire about our low rates. Let’s work together, come join us!
